Welcome to English I! Throughout the course of the year will be covering a wide variety of literature, writing, grammar, and vocabulary. Weekly Update
June 1 - June 3 On Monday, students will review for their final exam. Final exam schedule is as follows: Tuesday June 2 - 1st/ 2nd/ 3rd hour exams with school dismissing at 1pm. Wednesday June 3 - 4th/6th/7th hour exams with school dismissing at 1pm for the summer.
May 25 - May 29 Students will be independently reading for Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday and Friday will be dedicated to working on their final exam study guide.
May 18 - May 21 Students will be doing research on a argumentative topic of their own choice and writing an annotated bibliography.
May 11 - May 15 Students will be starting a new unit that continue with informational reading but with a research analysis component.
May 4 - May 8 Students will be finishing up their independent analysis of two different informational articles on a topic of their choosing. They will then be putting that information into a presentation.
April 27 - May 1 Students will be continuing to read and analyze informational texts. This week will focus on combining all skills learned last week to analyze a few different articles.
April 20 - April 24 Students will continuing with reading informational texts. This week they will be re-reading the articles from last week as well as reading some new ones and analyzing the text structures, text features, and the structural elements.
April 13 - April 17 Students will be make corrections and finalize their literary analysis essay by Wednesday. Thursday and Friday will be devoted to starting a new unit on informational text reading.
April 6 - April 10 Spring Break!
March 30 - April 2 Students will be making editing corrections to their literary analysis essays.
March 23 - March 27 We will be working on developing a literary analysis essay regarding Of Mice and Men. By the end of the week, students should have their rough drafts completely typed.
March 16 - March 20 We will be finishing the 1992 movie version of Of Mice and Men. Then the rest of the week will be dedicated to being to write the literary analysis of the novel.
March 9 - March 13 We will be finishing reading Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. We will be discussing the different themes of loneliness and dreams and how they impact the novella.
