Weekly Update
May 29 - June 1
No School Monday - Memorial Day.
This week students will begin working on an extension project that combines a wide range of topics and aspects that they have studied over the course of World History this year.
May 21 - May 25
Students will be working on their World History final exam study guide for the majority of the week before taking the exam on Thursday.
May 14 - May 18
This week students will wrap up the end of the world history curriculum. They will explore the impact that all of their studies have had on modern society especially in the formation of the United States's government.
May 7 - May 11
Students will be wrapping up the Modern Age unit this week with the unit test being at the end of the week. Students will then be doing a couple different activities that connect the events that they have studied in World History to current times.
April 30 - May 4
Students will be wrapping up the unit about how Europe transitioned to the modern age after the Scientific Revolution and into the Age of Enlightenment.
April 23 - April 27
This week students will be looking at the Scientific Revolution, the impact that it had on the modern age - both the past and present.
April 16 - April 20
This week students will continue the Exploration Age as we look how these explorations changed the face of the world, influenced government control, and started the expansion overseas.
April 9 - April 13
Welcome back from Spring Break! I hop everyone had a relaxing time on break and is ready to back to work. These final 8 weeks are going to fly by! Tuesday is SAT/PSAT testing so we have an early 1 pm release. Seniors are still expected to come to school and will be marked absent if not in attendance.
World History will start looking at the age of exploration with an emphasis from Spanish, Portuguese, English, and Dutch explorers.
March 26 - March 29
This week will be an extension of the Renaissance period where students will be able to look at how the Renaissance made a lasting impact on the world. There is no school on Friday due to Good Friday.
March 19 - March 23
Students will be wrapping up the Renaissance and Reformation in Europe this week. They will study how the Reformation spread before taking the unit test on Friday.
March 12 - March 16
This week the study of the Renaissance continues with looking into the beginning of the Renaissance, the city of Florence, and some of the leading people within the Renaissance movement.
March 5 - March 9
Students will continue their exploration of different Renaissance writers/scholars/scientists/etc. before looking into how the Renaissance began.
Feb 26 - March 2
This week students will take the unit test over the Meso-American civilizations. From here, they will begin their study of how Europe moved into the Renaissance period.
Feb 19 - Feb 23
Students will be continuing their study of the Mayans, Aztecs, and Incas daily lives, accomplishments, achievements, and lasting impact on the world.
Feb 12 - Feb 16
This week students will be working on the Central and South American civilizations, specifically the Mayans, Aztecs, and Incas.
Feb 5 - Feb 9
Students will be completing their study of Imperial Japan this week with a unit test on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday, they will transition around the globe to beginning study about medieval Mesopotamia, specially the Mayan culture.
Jan 29 - Feb 2
This week in medieval Japan, students will be looking at the cultural impact of the city Heian-kyo. Students will also study the Samurai code, what it meant to be part of this warrior class, and part take in a samurai simulation.
Jan 22 - Jan 26
Welcome 2nd Semester!
This new semester has students continuing with studying Medieval times with the focus of this new unit being on Japan.
Jan 15 - Jan 19
Students will complete the Chinese influence of foreigners on Monday prior to beginning the midterm study guide. Midterm reviews will be the focus of the week. Midterms are Thursday(1st, 3rd, and 5th hours) and Friday (2nd, 6th, and 7th hours). Both Thursday and Friday are 1 o'clock release days.
Jan 8 - Jan 12
Students will continue looking at Imperial China during medieval times with a focus on the structure of the Chinese political hierarchy, Chinese economics, and Chinese influence on the world around them.
Jan 3 - Jan 5

Dec 18 - Dec 19
Due to the snow/ice days last week, students will be taking the unit test over the West African Empires of Medieval times this week.
Dec 11 - Dec 15
Students will be finalizing the third unit of the year. They will be testing over the West African Empires of Medieval times on Friday.
Dec 4 - Dec 8
Students will be continuing the study of the West African Empires specifically looking that the influence the the Islamic faith had and the cultural legacy that these empires left behind.
Nov 27 - Dec 1
Students will beginning the third unit of Medieval Times that focuses the rise and development of the West African empires.
Nov 20 - Nov 22 1 pm release on 22nd; No School Nov 23rd and 24th - Happy Thanksgiving!
Students will be finalizing the unit over Islam this week. They will be taking the unit test on Tuesday and looking at the impact that the Islamic culture has on the 6 main themes of history.
Nov 13 - Nov 17
Parent Teacher conferences are this week. Monday from 5:00-7:30pm and Tuesday from 1:00 to 4:00pm and 5:30-7:30pm. Wednesday there is no school.
Students will be wrapping up Unit 2 this week over the history of Muslims and the Islamic religion. Students will look at the new empires of the Muslim world that came to be as a result of the Crusades before moving onto the unit study guide.
Nov 6 - Nov 10
Students will be looking at the way Islam was innovative and adapted to the changing world after the death of the prophet Muhammad.
Oct 30 - Nov 3
Students will be beginning unit 2 this week, which focuses on Islam in the Medieval Times. The first section that students will learn about is the origins and how Islam was spread throughout the Middle Ages.
Oct 23 - Oct 27
Students will be finalizing the first unit this week, which will gear them up to take the unit test on Friday.
Oct 16 - Oct 20
Students will be finishing up looking at medieval life as it led to the decline of feudalism and to the rise of the Byzantine Empire. This will be the final chapter in the unit so students will be starting the unit review for the unit test, which will be next week.
Oct 9 - Oct 13
Students will be finishing up looking at the impact of the Roman Catholic Church had on daily life in the Middle Ages. From there they will be looking at what life was like during Medieval Europe before starting to look at the decline of feudalism.
Oct 2 - Oct 6
Feudalism will conclude on Monday giving way to the rest of the week which will focus on The Roman Catholic Church's involvement in Medieval Europe. Students will look at the different ways religion impact the social and political aspects of daily life.
Sept 25 - Sept 29
Students will be continuing their study of Unit 1: Europe During Medieval Times. This week will focus predominately on the development of Feudalism.
Sept 18 - Sept 22
Now that students have a better understanding of lives in the earlier civilizations, students will begin looking at the 6 Themes that will create the framework of our World History curriculum. Students will begin unit 1 by looking at the Legacy of Roman Empire.
Sept 11 - Sept 15
Students will be in the computer lab for the majority of this week. While there they will complete their independent study of one of the Ancient River Civilizations GRAPES presentations. Students will also be complete a timeline of events for the ancient civilizations of China, Egypt, India, and Mesopotamia.
Sept 5 - Sept 8
Monday - No School - Labor Day
Tuesday, students will take their pre-test for World History. Students will get a crash course in the major events that occurred before 300 AD for the rest of the week.

I hope that everyone has had great summer break and is ready to get back to school.
This week students will be completing a few different activities to get them aware of how large the history of the world is compared to what they initially believe.
