Welcome to English II! Throughout the course of the year will be covering a wide variety of literature, writing, grammar, and vocabulary. Please see the course syllabus for an outline of what to expect throughout this year. Below are a series of different links that will take you to the different components of English II. Weekly Update
June 1 - June 3 On Monday, students will review for their final exam. Final exam schedule is as follows: Tuesday June 2 - 1st/ 2nd/ 3rd hour exams with school dismissing at 1pm. Wednesday June 3 - 4th/6th/7th hour exams with school dismissing at 1pm for the summer.
May 26 - May 29 Students will be finalizing their Animal Farm essays on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday and Friday will be dedicated to working on final exam study guide.
May 17 - May 21 Students will be working on completing the essay on "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" and doing some independent novel reading.
May 11 - May 15 Students will be working on finishing their literary analysis essays on Animal Farm and continuing to write the comparison essay on "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty". Due to a busy computer lab schedule the comparison essay will not be typed.
May 4 - May 8 Students will be typing their rough draft at different times this week due to testing and computer lab availability. On the days that we are not in the computer lab, students will be reviewing the short story "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" and writing an literary comparison essay.
April 27 - May 1 Students will be continuing to write their literary analysis essay on Animal Farm. This week will focus predominately on writing the body paragraphs and structuring a solid conclusion.
April 20 - April 24 Students will be watching one of the film adaptions of Animal Farm for the beginning of the week. The second half will be devoted to beginning to write the literary analysis essay on Animal Farm.
April 13 - April 17 Students will be finishing Animal Farm's comparison to the Russian Revolutions culminating in a test on Friday.
April 6 - April 10 Spring Break!
March 30 - April 2 Students will finish the novel and be creating a newspaper front page that exhibits the different themes that were expressed in the novel.
March 23 - March 27 We will be continuing to reading the novel Animal Farm. Students will also continue to show different connections from the plot points in the novel to historical events that took place in Communist Russia from 1917 until the late 1940s. Reading of the novel should be complete by week end.
March 16 - March 20 We will be beginning to read the novel Animal Farm. Students will also be working on comparing the novel to the events that surround Russia from 1917 until the 1940s.
March 9 - March 13 We will be finishing presentation on the hero's journey. After this we will be going into pre-reading activities for Animal Farm by George Orwell.
